Tata Motors का Big Move! Harrier और Safari का Diesel Engine अब होगा In-House Upgrade, Cost भी होगी कम!
Tata Motors ने एक बड़ा कदम उठाया है! Company ने 2.0L Multijet diesel engine के development rights हासिल कर लिए हैं. यह वही engine है जो 2019 से Harrier और 2021 से Safari को power दे रहा है. पहले यह engine Stellantis (via Fiat India Automobile) से license के तहत Maharashtra के Ranjangaon facility में manufacture होता था. लेकिन अब, इस powertrain का control Tata के पास होगा, जिससे company इसे further technical evolution दे सकेगी.
इस development से Tata को engine में adjustments करने के लिए external approval लेने की जरूरत नहीं होगी, खासकर electronic calibration या emission tweaks के मामले में. पहले के model के तहत, ECU reprogramming जैसे tasks के लिए approval लेना पड़ता था और reportedly 10 million euros तक का cost भी आता था – यह expense variant differentiation में flexibility को restrict करता था.
Last financial year के final quarter में sign हुए एक agreement के तहत Tata Motors को FAM B diesel engine को independently upgrade करने की ability मिल गई है. यह arrangement, Stellantis के साथ एक Technology License Agreement के ज़रिए formalise हुआ है, जो Tata को future emission standards या internal performance goals के alignment में अपने engineering modifications करने का अधिकार देता है.
Tata को मिलेंगे कई Benefits!
Calibration और development roadmap पर autonomy मिलने से, Tata से उम्मीद है कि वह cost pressures को manage करते हुए more efficient upgrade paths अपनाएगी. For example, Mahindra की mHawk engine strategy को ऐसे in-house control से काफी benefit मिला है, जिससे company बिना licensing penalties के अपने product range में differentiated powertrains offer कर पाती है.
यह move काफी significance रखता है क्योंकि Multijet engine अपनी versatility के लिए जाना जाता है. इसे past में Jeep Compass, MG Hector और Jeep Meridian जैसे multiple models में और other brands द्वारा different tunes में use किया गया है. Development में इस operational independence के बावजूद, production Ranjangaon में ही continue रहेगा.
Stellantis engine के core architecture के intellectual property को retain करेगी, लेकिन new license के तहत Tata द्वारा किए गए improvements Tata के purview में आएंगे. जल्द ही एक new 1.5L GDI turbo unit आने वाली है, जिससे Tata India में अपने powertrain options को apparently widen करेगी. यह Tata को ICE Harrier और Safari दोनों को upgrade करने का एक big opportunity भी देता है.
