Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang: Trump Tariffs “Utterly Visionary” for US Tech Future Amid Record Profits

In a striking endorsement, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has lauded the recent tariffs imposed by US President Donald Trump, calling the strategy “utterly visionary” and a key to boosting investment within the United States. His comments come as Nvidia celebrates record quarterly revenues of approximately $44 billion, a backdrop that perhaps underscores his positive outlook on current economic policies.
Speaking to Bloomberg following Nvidia’s impressive financial results, Huang didn’t hold back his support for specific Trump administration initiatives, suggesting they could be transformative for the American tech landscape.
A “Transformative Idea” for US Manufacturing
“Obviously, I don’t know all of his ideas, but let me tell you about two that are incredible,” Huang stated. “The first one is utterly visionary. The idea of tariffs being a pillar of a bold vision to re-industrialize to onshore manufacturing and motivate the world to invest in the United States is just an incredible vision. I think this is going to be a transformative idea for the next century for us.”
Huang declared Nvidia’s full commitment: “We’re all in on the idea. We’re setting up plants and encouraging our partners from around the world to invest in the United States, and we have a lot of stuff going on, and so I’m very excited about that.”
Accelerating “American Stacks” in the AI Era
The Nvidia chief also praised the decision to rescind a rule related to AI diffusion, framing it as a move to bolster US technological dominance globally.
“The second major idea,” Huang continued, “is to rescind the AI diffusion rule, recognizing that this isn’t about limiting American technology, but this is about accelerating American stacks around the world to make sure that, before it’s too late that the world builds on American stacks during this extraordinary time, the AI era.”
He concluded, “These two initiatives are completely visionary, and it’s going to be transformative for America.”
Contrasting Views in the Tech Sector
Huang’s enthusiastic support for the tariffs presents a notable contrast to sentiments from other tech leaders. Just a day prior, HP CEO Enrique Lores revealed that his company would be raising prices on PCs and printing hardware to mitigate rising costs directly incurred by these tariffs. Lores also indicated HP would cease using the US as a distribution hub for products sold in Canada or Latin America due to the new cost structures.
Nvidia’s AI-Powered Ascent
Jensen Huang has consistently championed the transformative potential of artificial intelligence, a field where Nvidia’s GPUs play a critical powering role. Speaking at the recent Dell Technology World 2025 event, he described the current technological shift as “a once in a lifetime opportunity,” and “the biggest reinvention that you and I have seen” in the last 60 years.
Urging businesses to embrace the change, Huang emphasized, “This is incredibly exciting technology – you want to engage it. The impact to your company is incredible – and you want to be an early adopter… This is the beginning of a decade of transformation. But you don’t want to be second – this is the time, and you want to be first.”
The vocal support from a CEO helming one of the world’s most valuable and influential tech companies adds a significant voice to the ongoing debate about the impact of tariffs and strategic industrial policy on the future of American innovation and manufacturing.
