Look Sharp, Nightfarer! Your Definitive Guide to Unlocking Outfits in Elden Ring Nightreign

So, you’re ready to battle Nightlords in style? Unlocking the ability to change your Nightfarer’s appearance in Elden Ring Nightreign and try on those slick new outfits is a true badge of honor. Be warned, though: it’s one of the most challenging cosmetic unlocks you’ll likely encounter, primarily because conquering expeditions and defeating their formidable Nightlord bosses is tough work!
If the initial Tricephalos expedition is giving you grief, you might be seeking tips to vanquish Gladius, Beast of Night – a key step towards your new wardrobe. Or perhaps you’re just after general Nightreign strategies. Either way, you’re in the right place! Here’s exactly what you need to do to unlock the appearance change feature and snag those coveted skins for your Nightfarers.
Step 1: Earn Your Reflection – Unlocking the “Change Garb” Mirror
To finally get the option to change your appearance in Elden Ring Nightreign, you must prove your mettle by successfully completing two different expeditions, which means defeating two unique Nightlords. That’s right, vanquishing the same Nightlord twice won’t cut it!
Your first likely target will be Gladius, Beast of Night in the Tricephalos expedition.
After that, you’ll need to conquer one of the subsequent six expeditions that unlock. The Gaping Jaw expedition, featuring Adel, Baron of Night, is a common next step.
Once you’ve sent two different Nightlords packing, the ever-helpful caretaker, Iron Menial, will inform you he’s set up a special mirror for you. You’ll find this “Change Garb” mirror in the east wing of the Roundtable Hold, within the very same room where Gideon Ofnir typically resides in the base Elden Ring game. If you’re unsure, simply open your map and cycle down to the “Change garb” option to pinpoint its location. Interact with the mirror, and voila! The world of Nightfarer fashion is yours to explore.
Step 2: Paying the Price for Style – How to Unlock New Outfits
Got the mirror? Fantastic! But those fresh threads aren’t free. You’ll need to spend Murk, the special currency earned by attempting and completing expeditions, to unlock new outfits.
Each Nightfarer boasts at least four alternate costume choices. Initially, you’ll see these options available for purchase:
Dawn: 14,000 Murk
Darkness: 35,000 Murk
Dark Souls #1: 7,500 Murk (requires separate unlock conditions – see our dedicated guide for these!)
Dark Souls #2: 7,500 Murk (also requires separate unlock conditions)
While the Dawn outfit is reasonably attainable, the Darkness set will demand a significant Murk grind. And yes, those awesome Dark Souls-themed outfits shown in trailers (two per character) are available, but they have their own unique unlock methods. Some characters, like Wylder, can also earn an exclusive outfit by fully completing their Remembrances.
Visual Showcase: All Elden Ring Nightreign Outfits (Standard Unlocks)
(Here, you would ideally embed or clearly reference your gallery of 24 images showing Wylder, Guardian, Ironeye, Duchess, Raider, Revenant, Recluse, and Executor in their default, Dawn, and Darkness outfits.)
The gallery above showcases the fantastic range of standard outfits you can purchase once you’ve accessed the mirror. (Note: The Dark Souls outfits are not included here due to their special unlock requirements).
Step 3: Stockpiling Your Fashion Fund – How to Get More Murk
Don’t despair at those Murk prices! You’ll accumulate Murk simply by participating in expeditions, whether you succeed or fail – persistence pays!
However, for an extra Murk boost, don’t forget to sell spare or unwanted Relics. Head to the Relic Table and navigate to the “Sell” option on the far right. Be cautious not to sell anything valuable or essential for your builds, but offloading unneeded Relics is a great way to supplement your Murk income as you save up for that next must-have outfit.
Good luck, Nightfarer! May your expeditions be fruitful and your fashion game be strong!
