It’s (Almost) Official! Voice Actors Fuel Massive Excitement for Persona 4 Remake!

Hold onto your glasses, Persona fans, because the long-whispered Persona 4 remake is looking more real by the minute! Fueling the immense excitement, a second key voice actor from the original beloved game has spoken out, strongly suggesting the project is indeed in development.
Following Yuri Lowenthal’s social media post just yesterday, Erin Fitzgerald, the cherished voice of Chie Satonaka, has now shared that she will not be reprising her iconic role. “For those asking, I have not been asked to reprise my role as Chie Satonaka in the Persona 4 remake,” Fitzgerald posted. “I am blessed to have recorded as many Persona 4 games as I did playing her.” Fitzgerald, whose impressive credits include Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Death Stranding, and Diablo 4, brought Chie to life in Persona 4, its Golden re-release, and multiple spin-off titles.
This news comes hot on the heels of Yuri Lowenthal (the voice of Yosuke Hanamura in Persona 4 and Persona 3‘s protagonist, widely known as Spider-Man in Insomniac’s games) stating he also wouldn’t be returning for the remake, despite his enthusiasm. “And for those who keep asking, no, I will not be returning as Yosuke for the Persona 4 remake,” he wrote. “I asked. Maybe I even begged, but they don’t want me to come back.” (It’s worth noting both Fitzgerald and Lowenthal are part of the SAG-AFTRA actors’ strike against AI abuse).
While Atlus itself remains tight-lipped, these statements from two such integral cast members are being widely interpreted by the passionate fanbase as the strongest confirmation yet that a Persona 4 remake is truly underway.
For many, Persona 4 holds a special place in their hearts. While Persona 5 launched the series into global superstardom, Persona 4 was instrumental in popularizing the unique blend of JRPG dungeon-crawling and social simulation that fans adore. Its vibrant cast, engaging mystery, and unforgettable soundtrack have made it an enduring classic.
This anticipated remake would follow the critically acclaimed Persona 3 Reload, released last year, which masterfully updated the 2006 original with modern graphics and gameplay enhancements inspired by Persona 5. Fans have been eagerly speculating that Persona 4 would receive similar, loving treatment.
The Persona universe continues to expand, with the even more eagerly awaited Persona 6 also on the horizon (though details are scarce beyond leaks suggesting a multi-platform release), and the spin-off Persona 5: The Phantom X set to launch next month on PC and mobile.
While the news of voice cast changes may bring a tinge of nostalgia for some, the overwhelming sentiment is one of pure excitement: a Persona 4 remake is coming, and fans are ready to dive back into Inaba!
