Elden Ring Nightreign: Summon the Shadows! How to Unlock the Necromancer Revenant

For Tarnished who delight in commanding spectral allies in Elden Ring Nightreign, a powerful new recruit awaits. The game’s second hidden character, Revenant, offers a potent necromancer-style experience, perfect for players who prefer to hang back and let their summoned spirits do the heavy lifting. Unlocking her isn’t overly complex, but it requires specific steps in the right order. This guide will walk you through every ghostly footstep to add this formidable backliner to your roster.
Laying the Groundwork: The Duchess Prerequisite
Before you can even begin the hunt for Revenant in Elden Ring Nightreign, you must first have Duchess on your team. If you haven’t already, this involves:
Completing the first expedition.
Giving the Old Pocketwatch to the Priestess at Roundtable Hold.
Acquiring the Key: The Besmirched Frame
With Duchess unlocked, your next destination is the Small Jar Bazaar within Roundtable Hold. The diminutive merchant there will now offer a crucial item: the Besmirched Frame.
Cost: 1500 murk. You might need to embark on a few more expeditions or sell some unwanted relics to gather the necessary funds.
Whispers in the Hold: Finding the Phantom
Clutching your newly acquired Besmirched Frame, open your map. You’re looking for an NPC marked with an exclamation point located in the east wing of Roundtable Hold. Head to this location to find a phantom intently staring at a wall.
Interact with this spectral figure.
When prompted, select “Yes” to touch it.
The Spectral Showdown: Defeating Revenant
Touching the phantom whisks you away to a new, ominous arena. Here, you’ll face Revenant herself, accompanied by her three powerful family spirits. This encounter can be a somewhat tedious and frustrating showdown if you’re not prepared, and your choice of Nightfarer can significantly alter the difficulty.
Pro-Tip for an Easier Fight: Consider selecting Ironeye as your Nightfarer. His unlimited arrows allow you to effectively kite the spirits around the arena while maintaining a safe distance from Revenant. This strategy makes it harder for her to land her wide (and quite painful) ranged attacks.
A New Ally: Claiming Your Necromancer
Once Revenant is defeated, she will be available for selection at the Character Selection altar back in Roundtable Hold. Congratulations! You’ve now successfully unlocked both additional hidden characters on your Elden Ring Nightreign roster.
