Command the Undead: Unlock Elden Ring Nightreign’s Hidden Necromancer, Revenant

For Tarnished adventurers seeking to master every facet of Elden Ring Nightreign, unlocking the full roster of playable Nightfarers is a paramount goal. Among these champions lies a figure shrouded in shadow and bone: Revenant, the enigmatic necromancer. If the allure of raising fallen foes to fight by your side and commanding a spectral “family” calls to you, then learning how to unlock Revenant is essential.

Revenant’s playstyle is unlike any other in Nightreign. She thrives on the aftermath of battle, with a unique ability to potentially summon slain enemies as loyal allies every time she deals a killing blow. Given her minuscule health pool, she excels as a dedicated caster and support character, orchestrating the tide of battle from a safer distance rather than engaging in direct melee. To further aid her spectral army, Revenant can also summon one of three consistent guardians, her “Family,” providing crucial support even when fresh corpses are scarce.

Unearthing this master of the undead isn’t immediately obvious, but the path is clear once you know the steps.

The Path to Necromancy: How to Unlock Revenant in Elden Ring Nightreign

Before you can walk the path of the necromancer, you’ll first need to have unlocked Duchess. (This typically involves speaking to the priestess in Roundtable Hold after defeating Gladius in the initial “Tricephalos” expedition).

With Duchess recruited, here’s your step-by-step guide to adding Revenant to your Nightfarer ranks:

  1. Acquire the Besmirched Frame: Your first crucial item is the Besmirched Frame relic. This can be purchased from the Small Jar Bazaar, located within the Roundtable Hold. Make sure Duchess is unlocked before attempting this purchase.

  2. Interact with the Spectral Echo: Once you have the Besmirched Frame, seek out a ghostly apparition of Revenant herself. She can be found in the east wing of the Roundtable Hold. To locate her: when facing the main expedition table and the archway leading towards Limveld (where you catch the hawk), take the passage to your right (towards the journal stand). Then, turn left. You’ll see the Revenant phantom staring intently at a painting. Approach and interact with this phantom.

  3. Confront the Night Idol: Interacting with the phantom will transport you to a familiar location: the arena from Nightreign’s tutorial. Here, you must face the Night Idol boss. This spectral guardian isn’t alone; she will summon a Page, a Pumpkin Head, and a formidable giant skeleton to defend her.

    • Combat Tip: The Night Idol herself doesn’t possess a vast amount of health. Consider bringing a high-damage or tanky character like Raider to rush her down directly, attempting to absorb or ignore the damage from her summoned minions to end the fight quickly.

The Rewards of Undeath

Upon defeating the Night Idol, your efforts will be rewarded. Revenant will be unlocked and available for selection at the character altar in Roundtable Hold.

You can now delve into her unique necromantic abilities, raising fallen enemies with each kill and summoning her loyal “Family” to bolster your team’s efforts against the Nightlords. Master her playstyle, and you’ll command a spectral legion that can overwhelm even the toughest foes in Elden Ring Nightreign.
